Gingerbread Sugar Scrub
2 cups brown sugar
- OR -
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon, powdered
2 teaspoons ginger, powdered
2 teaspoons nutmeg, powdered
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice, powdered
2 to 4 drops vanilla extract
1 cup almond oil - other oils are also suitable, e.g. soybean oil, hazelnut oil, macadamia nut oil, jojoba oil, apricot kernel oil, safflower oil, olive oil or grapeseed oil
In a medium-sized bowl, combine all ingredients except the essential oil. Using a wooden spoon, blend ingredients thoroughly, making sure to break up any lumps of brown sugar or spice.
Spoon into a storage container with a tight-fitting lid.
Massage approximately ¼ to ½ cup of scrub onto pre-moistened skin using circular motions. Rinse.
WARNING: Cinnamon and ginger can cause skin irritations. Make sure not to overuse these spices, especially if you are planning to give your homemade scrub away as a gift. If you want to make sure, put a bit of the finished product on the inside of your wrist and wait about 10 minutes. If you experience no redness or discomfort, it is safe to use.
