Lavender Body Wash Recipe

  • 1 cup dry lavender
  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 1 Tsp citric acid
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 1/2 cup liquid castile soap
  • 1 tsp guar gum
  • 20 drops lavender essential oil

Boil water in a kettle and once boiling pour over the lavender. Cover and let sit for an hour, then strain to remove lavender bits from your infusion.

In a bowl whisk your oil, honey, infusion, and citric acid together.

Sprinkle in the guar gum, whisking to combine, and then immediately afterward whisk in the castile soap (if you wait too long the guar gum will thicken and you’ll have clumps) until blended and smooth.

Drop in your essential oils and fold in with a spoon or spatula. Store the mixture in a bottle that you have sterilized (opaque is best) out of direct sunlight and shake before each use.

NOTES: The citric acid is used to prevent bacterial growth. The olive oil can be swapped out with coconut oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, or any other oil. The guar gum is used as a thickener, binder, and volume enhancer. You can find the guar gum in most stores that carry natural foods.
