1/4 cup stearic acid powder
1 cup hot water
2 Tbs grated soap
1 tsp borax
In a double boiler on the stove, melt the stearic acid powder until it's a clear liquid. Mix together the rest of the ingredients and stir until the borax and soap are completely dissolved. Pour the soap solution into a blender, and blend on low speed for about a minute. Slowly pour the melted stearic acid into the soap solution. Blend on high speed until a smooth cream has formed.
Pour into a clean, open container and allow to cool completely. When cool, stir the cream and pour into a clean container with a lid.
To use, soften beard with warm water, and then smooth the shaving clean over face. Use a sharp, clean razor. Yield: 8 ounces.
This cream may separate if it remains unused. Just give it a good stir before using and it should be fine.
